Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai
"A good pet friendly hotel should be flexible and accommodating to the needs of the pet & pet owner. For example, many younger dogs (puppies) have special dietary preferences, which should be taken into consideration."
What services do you offer to the guests with pets and to those pets?
At Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, pets are treated like any other guest; 'VIP treatment for all as we say'. All pets get their own bed, feeding bowl, special food and even toys. Upon request, the hotel can arrange for a pet-sitter, should the guest need those services!
Is there a change in tariff for such guests, if yes, do throw some light on the extra charges that are levied.
An additional cleaning fees of INR 1500/- plus applicable government taxes per night will be levied on the room charges, where a pet is staying.
Are there any preset condition or rules & regulations for such guests?
Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai accepts small pets less than or up to 30 lbs (15 kg) in the room, provided they are fully trained and restrained by their owners, and the property has no reasonable expectation of the pet being a problem. Only guide dogs (in the case of visually challenged or differently able guests) are allowed in the restaurants. All other pets will be restricted to their rooms/common outdoor areas such as lawns.
Do you have a different staff for such guests, if yes; are those staff members trained in handling pets?
We have identified team members at the hotel who are fond of or, own pets, and they are designated to help the guest, as well as offer our guests help with dog walking, etc. Similarly, we are careful to make sure that only pet-friendly/animal loving staff is sent to the room for housekeeping or in-room-dining services, etc.
A lot of people in India are starting a trend of Canine Cafe, where a person can go dine in with his/her pet. Give your views on the same.
For most people, a pet is an extension of their family. We think that dining or going to a social space or cafe with your pet is a very genuine demand these days. A lot of single travellers or city guests may not want to leave their pet alone all the time, and they also use dining out with their pets as means to spend time with them, or make them part of a daily routine.
What do you think makes a good pet friendly hotel?
A good pet friendly hotel should be flexible and accommodating to the needs of the pet & pet owner. For example, many younger dogs (puppies) have special dietary preferences, which should be taken into consideration. Or in certain seasons, some breeds tend to shed a lot more, and hotels should be prepared to deal with such housekeeping issues.
Having pet friendly staff is the key to managing guests and their expectations. In the case of transient guests who are moving thru countries or cities, a hotel is their temporary home for a few weeks or months, and it becomes essential that the pet is made to feel at home and as comfortable as possible, or this can lead to irritable pets who would then disturb other guests or the hotel management.
