Ever since I was a child, it has been my desire to have a furbaby in my life. Finally, I was able to manifest my lifelong dream into reality when Alexander the Tiny came into my life in 2017. Just like his namesake he immediately conquered our hearts with his tiny paws & soulful eyes. He went on to claim his place as the lifeline of our whole family – my dad & nani adore him, my brother loves him with all his heart & specifically my mom & him are inseparable. With his wet nose & sloppy licks, wagging tail and cute little shenanigans, he was filling our lives with immeasurable joy. In 2021, we decided to increase this joy some more & brought Chico into our home & hearts. Chico claimed his own place in his own way. He became a daddy’s boy, all the while enjoying love & affection from nani & mom. My brother, who was in abroad at that time, also fell in love with him long distance! Alex & Chico formed an immediate bond – Alex assumed the role of protective & strict big bro while Chico was the cute but mischievous younger sibling. We all could spend whole day watching them playing with each other, doing silly antics or just sleeping snuggled together.
In the same year I also got engaged. Being an arranged alliance, I was a bit apprehensive about the view of my future family regarding my furbabies. But Alex & Chico were unfazed by all this – it was as if they knew that no one could resist there cute & endearing personalities. And this is exactly what happened! They worked their way through & left their everlasting tiny paw prints on the hearts of my now husband & parents in law. My mother-in-law went from being severely scared of doggos to enjoy offering Alex & Chico treats & my father-in-law began fussing over tiny things like their haircuts & outfits! And as for my husband Shekhar, he was smitten! Both my houses being in the same city, he was able to spend a lot of time with them & slowly they became an integral part of his life as well. It warms my heart so much to see that he has so lovingly adopted something so close to my heart – these tiny tots sure know how to cast magical spells. To see them wagging their tails uncontrollably when we visit & Shekhar accepting their wet & sloppy kisses always makes me feel that I won at life!
The history repeated itself completely when my brother got hitched last year. The newest addition to the family was so adoringly welcomed by both our angels. Every time Himshikha is home, Alex & Chico find a way to show their affection – following her around, accepting treats gratefully or just snuggling to her & sleeping.
I tend to get emotional when I see them being showered with affection from absolutely every family member – I brought them into our home with a bit of resistance from everyone, but they went on to become everyone’s heartbeat. So now I am here, sitting among the family, just chilling & chatting, & seeing Alex & Chico stealing everyone’s attention in every few minutes & realizing that they truly went from being mine to being ours – & wishing this moment lasts for a lifetime.
