What motivated Taiyo to pioneer India’s first-ever animal feed manufacturing and exporting unit, and how has this initiative evolved over the years?
I started a small aquarium retail shop in 1994. My interest in maintaining ornamental fish encouraged me to establish the retail business which further motivated me to trade fish feed in India. While running this venture, I decided to start an independent manufacturing unit for animal feed in India instead of importing fish feed. This helped in reducing the import cost and bargaining for better quality products at the same price. I traded machinery from overseas and founded Taiyo Group to manufacture animal feed in 2002 in Chennai. It is an ISO-certified indigenous pet food manufacturer across India. With its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, the organization has carved a niche in the pet animal feeding industry by innovating and improving the science and resources of manufacturing healthy and balanced nutrition for pets.
Taiyo has achieved the remarkable feat of being the No.1 seller of Aquarium Fish Feed in India. What strategies and core values do you attribute to this achievement, and how do you plan to sustain and build on this success?
One of the core values that likely contributed to Taiyo Group’s success is a strong focus on product quality and innovation. We understand and study the International trade policies of the respective country and regulations, licences, and approvals required through our customers and legal consultants before offering the products to them in each of the countries where we are exporting and accordingly ensure that our products confirm the overall legal requirements, test certificates to import without any hassles. This will ensure smooth business happening and also adapt to the cultural requirements in our packaging and declarations for a better understanding of our products by the end customers. At the same time, we never compromise on our Quality and maintain high standards so that our brand will speak for the excellence of our product.

We are a market leader in India and export to 20+ countries across the globe. To enter international markets, we would ensure the products comply with all relevant regulatory requirements and standards in each country we aim to operate. Adhering to international quality and safety standards builds trust and credibility with consumers and authorities. Adapting product formulations and packaging to suit the preferences and cultural norms of each market can enhance their appeal to local consumers. Customizing packaging, labelling, and product names in multiple languages show a commitment to understanding and connecting with international customers. Participating in international pet industry trade shows and events can provide Taiyo Group with networking opportunities and exposure to key industry players and potential customers.
