Feed fresh foods, good quality protein along with healthy fats, Bone broth is excellent for healing joints and also helpful for senior dogs. Bone broth is rich in collagen which promotes bone and joint health. Apart from this, do feed good amount of omega 3 fatty acids either by way of roasted and ground flaxseeds or ghee or supplements. If you can feed whole fish, that will be helpful too. However, bone and joint problems are solved with a combination of weight bearing exercises and diet. Diet alone will not be sufficient.
2. Is curd rice good for dogs?
Curd rice is a comfort food fed to dogs when they have an upset stomach. A disturbed digestive system is the only occasion when curd rice is advisable to be given as a meal. Apart from this, curd rice is an incomplete and imbalance meal for your dog. It contains a lot of carbohydrate, misses vitamins and minerals coming from vegetables and also lacks adequate proteins.
Adding protein sources like chicken or mutton or soya nuggets in case the dog is vegetarian, reducing the quantity of rice and curd a bit, adding cooked vegetable purree and some seed mixes will make curd rice more balanced and nutritional.

Well, if your dog eats them and is digesting them well, its great! All dogs are different, Some dogs develop acute gastric problems when fed plant based foods and fibrous foods. Potatoes can not be the main meal for your dog but are okay as a snack or treat. In case you add a grain such as rice or wheat to your dog’s food in any form, the quantity of the grains can be reduced in order to make up for the carbohydrates received through potatoes. Other veggies that dogs can eat are broccoli, peas, beans (in limits), mushrooms, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes and pumpkin.
4. What should I feed my 6 months old Labrador? I would like to feed home made food not packaged.
Puppies need a diet rich protein as well as calcium. Feed good sources of protein like chicken, egg whites, fish, soya or tofu. Make sure you provide adequate calcium to your puppy (add 1/4th tsp of egg shell powder a day) or a bit of bone meal powder to his food. Puppies should be fed more frequently than adult dogs and must be fed at least 3 meals a day.
