The Indian Pet Industry Dialogue (IPID) is an endeavour that stands as a pillar of diversity and knowledge among the Indian Pet Industry, as prominent stakeholders delve into the nuances of the specific sectors that they are involved in. The Indian Pet Industry Dialogue is an amalgamation of reflection of the growth incurred by the Indian Pet Industry alongside a forum to deliberate and engage in insightful conversations aimed at up-levelling the Indian Pet Industry.

A trio of pet care luminaries, Satinder Singh, the General Manager of Royal Canin; Dr. Shashank Sinha, the CEO of Drools; and Bharat Pittie, the Director of Orange Pet Nutrition, gathered on a stage that seemed to resonate with their collective passion. Their discourse, a rich tapestry of insights and wisdom, wove together discussions on diverse topics – from consumer behavior trends to the inherent humanness that pets evoke in us. This age, they contended, is witnessing an unprecedented bond between humans and pets, a bond that fuels the evolution of an entire ecosystem of care and companionship.

This was followed by a discussion featuring Animesh Katiyar, the Founder of Fur Ball Story; Dr. CK Katiyar, CEO of Healthcare at Emami Ltd; and Yash Chari, Director of Rassari Biotech Ltd. Their dialogue, moderated by Govind Suryawanshi, Director of Government Affairs, Public Policy, and Advocacy at Royal Canin, resonated with optimism. These luminaries collectively envisioned a future where India’s pet population could burgeon to a staggering 60 million, including the ever-endearing stray population. Rooted in empathy, their discussion underscored the importance of investing in pet parents over marketing, painting a road-map towards a more compassionate industry landscape. Their take highlighted the very core from which the Indian Pet Industry can expand; tapping into the wants of pet parents.

The IPID’s narrative then took a turn towards strategy, as Animesh Sharma, Associate Director of Growth at blinkit, Ambarish Sikarwar, Business Head of Zigly, and Shubesh Goel, the Founder of Basil Petcare India, took center stage. Their conversation, steered by Monarch Jaiswal of Monarch Web World, unfurled the intricacies of the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B) dynamics in the pet care market. From pet food to accessories and healthcare, their insights provided a compass for navigating this complex landscape.

The spotlight then shifted to a new breed of influencers – the New Age Pet Influencers. Andrea Cyrill Khurana, Founder President of PPGAI; Achal Gupta, Founder of Jeffurry’s Pet Care; and Sanjeev Kumar, Founder of Scooby Scrub, took the stage, with Sagar Gwalani moderating this discussion, which was sponsored by Pettle. These influencers dismantled taboos surrounding the service sector in the pet industry, sharing heart-warming tales of lasting relationships with clients. Their unique and unexpected ways of connecting with pets extended far beyond traditional paradigms, illustrating how this sector is ushering in a new era of pet care, one defined by its commitment to nurturing the bond between humans and their beloved companions.

In a crescendo of intellectual and technological exploration, Curtis Strahm, the regional director of Wenger, unveiled the mystique of Pet Food extrusion technology. He illuminated the intricate processes that breathe life into pet kibble food, infusing it with high-quality fresh meat and precision-engineered parameters.

Saquib Pathan, the  President of the Feline Club of India, and Roshen Verghese, the National Category Manager of Drools Pet Food shared a  dialogue that was a veritable symphony of insights, navigating the multifaceted journey of felines. From the captivating nuances of their existence to the dire importance of shining a spotlight on their unique needs, the discourse celebrated the role of these majestic creatures in our lives.

Mrinalini Khusape, Founder and CEO of PawPurrfect; Anirban Chanda, Founder of Onpets; and Garima Kaushal, Founder of Sploot, guided the discourse on the digital age of the pet industry. Under the  moderation of Rana Atheya, the CEO and Founder of DogSpot Meal, they navigated the nuances of digitalization, its importance, and its sweeping transition across the industry. Together, they peered into the crystal ball, envisioning a future where technology would weave an intricate tapestry of care, convenience, and connection for pets and their parents.

In the presence of the venerable Ashish Anthony, Founder of Just Dogs, the crowd found themselves drawn into a journey of inspiration. A first-generation entrepreneur who had scaled the retail ladder, his very presence was a beacon of encouragement, reminding all that the sky is the limit when dedication and passion guide the way.

Amid the vibrant audience, a luminous figure stood tall – Ms. Geeta Seshamani, Vice President of Friendicoes SECA. The applause that echoed through the hall was a standing ovation, a heartfelt tribute to her extraordinary dedication to animal welfare. Her wisdom resonated like a timeless melody, her insights revealing the profound interconnectedness between the pet industry and the well-being of our furry friends.

A dynamic trio – Prabakar, Founder of Taiyo Feed Mill; Dr. Shashank Sinha, the visionary CEO of Drools; and Chetan Kumar – engaged in a riveting conversation, guided by the skilled moderation of Govind Suryavanshi. Their discussion revolved around a poignant theme – “Make in India for the World.” In a symposium that delved deep into self-sufficiency, they unraveled the potential of Indian brands to not only flourish on home turf but to also emerge as global leaders in the pet care industry. Their words painted a vivid picture of a future where innovation and quality would be synonymous with Indian pet care.

As the IPID journey approached its culmination, the spotlight turned to the investor’s perspective. Paritosh Srivastava, Investment Principal of Anthil Venture, and Dr. Madhurita Gupta, Founder of GOANGEL NETWORK PVT LTD, became the torchbearers of this final chapter. Their insights were the capstone, shedding light on the dynamic investment landscape that propels the pet care industry forward. They illuminated the strategic intersections between capital and compassion, where financial viability merges harmoniously with the shared mission of enhancing the lives of pets.

As the curtain fell on the 3rd Indian Pet Industry Dialogue, it left in its wake a trail of inspiration, a symphony of voices echoing the aspirations of an industry committed to nurturing not just the physical health of our companions, but the very essence of our shared bond. The event was more than a conference; it was a platform where creativity, compassion, and collaboration painted a brighter future for the world of pet care in India.
